Abstract

Two coordination polymers, {[Cu2(L)(en)2(H2O)2]·8H2O}n (1) and {[(CuSaen)3(HL)(H2O)2]·4H2O}n (2) (H4L = 2,2′,6,6′-Tetracarboxybiphenyl, HSaen = N-salicylaldehyde-1,2-diaminoethane and en = Ethylenediamine) have been assembled from 2,2′,6,6′-tetracarboxybiphenyl ligand and Schiff base metal complex CuSaenAc (HAc = acetic acid) by two different methods. Complex 1 has been synthesized under hydrothermal condition and complex 2 has been prepared by volatilization. Their structures have been characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction analyses, complex 1 has a two-dimensional (2D) layer network, whereas complex 2 exhibits a zero-dimensional structure. The elemental analyses, IR spectra, electronic spectra, and thermogravimetric analyses of two complexes were investigated.
