Abstract

Phyllodes tumor of the breast is rare especially the tumor associated with a breast carcinoma. We report here two cases of breast phyllodes tumor with carcinoma. Case I: A 42-year-old woman was seen at the clinic because of a tumor in the right breast. The tumor was excised with a diagnosis of phyllodes tumor. Microscopic examination revealed a noninvasive ductal carcinoma near the tumor. Therefore a modified radical mastectomy with lymph node dissection was performed. Case 2: 20-year-old woman was seen at the clinic because of a rapidly growing tumor in the right breast. The tumor was excised locally, and microscopic examination revealed an invasive ductal carcinoma near the tumor. Subcutaneous mastectomy and breast reconstruction with dorsal muscle were performed. No adjuvant chemotherapy nor hormone therapy was performed in both cases. In case of phyllodes tumor there is a possibility of synchronous or metachronous association of breast carcinoma. Close histological examination of the resected specimen and strict follow-up should be performed.
