Abstract

Amnesty International is campaigning on behalf of two doctors imprisoned in Yangon, capital of former Burma. Ma Thida, 27, and Aung Khin Sint, 59, were sentenced last year to 20 years each in prison for crimes against the ruling military government. Dr Thida, who is held in solitary confinement, and Dr Aung Khin Sint, who has been subjected to periods of forced labour, are being held in Insein prison, renowned for its harsh conditions.
