Abstract

Two-beam coupling between filament-forming ultrashort (<60 fs) pulses is investigated with pulse phase modulation in air. The effects of self-phase modulation (SPM) and third-order dispersion are experimentally observed with negatively chirped pulses. It is demonstrated that SPM affects the energy transfer ratios between initial phase modulated pulses. The theoretical calculations are in good agreement with our experimental observations.
