Abstract
The Carthusian monastery in Žiče (Ger. Seitz) played a central role in the history of the Carthusian Order during the turbulent period of the Great Schism, which might have also influenced its musical life. A comparison of the texts, melodies, and note groupings in two Žiče antiphonals from the 13th and 15th centuries, as well as some other facts about music in the other Carthusian monasteries of that time, can offer at least a vague picture of the musical life at the Žiče monastery in the fiftheenth century.
