Abstract

Two- and three-photon processes in atomic potassium are studied in the quantum-defect framework. Spin-orbit coupling and core polarisation effects are fully taken into account. A Green function technique is used in order to perform the infinite summations running over the whole unperturbed atomic spectrum. Comparisons with a set of theoretical and experimental results are made. Photoelectron spin polarisation effects are also studied.
