Abstract

Two A-type proanthocyanidins, ent-epiafzelechin-(4α→8, 2α→O→7)-(−)-epicatechin and its isomer, ent-epiafzelechin-(4α→8′, 2α→O→7′)-catechin, together with other known compounds, have been isolated from the roots of Prunus armeniaca. The concerted use of one- and two-dimensional NMR methods ( 1H- 1H COSY, HMQC, HMBC and NOESY) allowed the identification of these compounds.
