Abstract

Two 2D isostructural coordination polymers (CPs) [M(L)2(H2O)2]·2H2O (M = Cd2+1, Mn2+2) based on the multifunctional rigid ligand, 4-(3-pyrazin-2-yl)-1H-pyrazol-1-yl)benzoic acid (HL), were synthesized, characterized and analyzed with Hirshfeld surface. Compound 1 can potentially be used as a multi-functional luminescent sensing material for Cr2O72−, CrO42− and Fe3+ ions through luminescence quenching in water. And the Ksv values for these ions were estimated to be 1.23 × 104 M−1, 9.26 × 103 M−1 and 7.39 × 103 M−1, respectively. The mechanisms of quenching were also explored.
