Abstract

World-sheet fermions with twisted Thirring interactions are used as a mechanism to break gauge symmetry in N=1 supersymmetric or chiral models. Given any free fermionic construction in an arbitrary dimension, the procedure to apply this mechanism is outlined. These interactions can also reduce the rank of the gauge group and generate exotic Higgs representations for the unbroken gauge group.
