Abstract

AbstractA convenient approach for the straightforward synthesis of highly dispersed silver nanoparticles (below 5 nm) in a carbon or silicon dioxide matrix through twin polymerization is reported. The obtained mainly microporous carbon (type I isotherm) and mesoporous silica materials (type IV isotherm) exhibit a rather high surface area (carbon = 1034 m2 g–1, SiO2 = 666 m2 g–1).
