Abstract

The article is an attempt at a bibliometric analysis of the scientific journal Journal of Economic History and History of Economics published by the Baikal State University since 2002. Journal of Economic History and History of Economics is one of two scientific journals in Russia (along with Economic History (Saransk)) that specialize in the problems of economic history and the history of economic thought. The object of the study was a set of individual characteristics of the authors of the journal and articles published by them, as well as general bibliometric indicators from the RSCI database that characterize the journal as a whole. The subject of the study were the features of the presented indicators. The research methods used: a quantitative analysis of data characterizing the authors of articles and their publications, a comparative analysis of the bibliometric indicators of the journal in chronological dynamics (in the first and second decades of its existence), as well as a comparative analysis of the bibliometric indicators of the journals Journal of Economic History and History of Economics and Economic History. We have identified the features of the first and second decades of the development of the journal expressed in such indicators as the geography of the authors, the scope of their scientific activity, the scientific directions of the journal, and the genres of publications. We conducted a comparative analysis of the journals Journal of Economic History and History of Economics and Economic History in terms of the number of articles in the RSCI, the impact factor of the RSCI, the Herfindahl index, the integral index of journals in the SCIENCE INDEX rating, and the average Hirsch index. The research found the correlation between the dynamics of the bibliometric indicators of the journal and the transformation processes taking place in science and higher education in Russia, as well as the special place of the journal Journal of Economic History and History of Economics in the system of national science.
