Abstract

A 24-h reading room, as accessible at ’Nimbe Adedipe Library, Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Ogun State, Nigeria, allows readers to read 24/7 unhindered with free entry and exit. It is an innovation at some university (academic) libraries in Nigeria to propel students’ reading habit. Thus, to deduce users’ impression of the reading room, 100 copies of a structured questionnaire was administered on the readers; out of which 98 copies were properly completed, returned and used for this study, representing a response rate of 98%. The study revealed that the readers valued the reading room, as all categories of students make use of the place. The readers also consider the library very conducive to reading. However, some challenges were identified, to which necessary solutions are recommended.
