Abstract

A review of the synthesis of crown ethers at Brigham Young University ispresented. Topics include: thiacrown ethers, diestercrown ethers,proton-ionizable crown ethers, chiral crown ethers, azacrown ethers,cryptands and other polycyclic ligands, and the Mannich reaction method toprepare azacrown ethers and cryptands.
