TV 드라마의 시대별 영상제작기법 변천과정 - MBC 홈드라마를 중심으로 -

Abstract

본 논문은 "1980년 언론통폐 합, 이후 두 차례에 걸친 민영방송국의 개국, 케이블TV와 위성TV등 다매체 다채널 시대를 맞으면서, 변화하는 국내 방송환경 속에서 텔레비전 드라마의 영상제작기법은 과연 어떻게 달라졌을까?" 하는 의문을 가지고, MBC의 'TV 드라마 성숙기(1981-1990)', 'TV 드라마 전환기 (1991-2000)', 'TV 드라마의 도약기(2001 - 현재)' 등 3단계 역사적 발전 과정에 따른 영상제작기법의 변천과정을 비교 분석하였다. 영상분석을 위해서 '홈드라마'라는 내용상의 장르에 국한하여, 각 시대별로 3편씩, 모두 9편의 드라마를 선정하고, 방송사의 자료영상과 홈페이지의 드라마 다시보기, 대본보기 등을 통해 영상의 카메라워크와 화면의 크기를 분석하고, 샷의 평균지속시간 등을 산출하였다. 이들 표본의 영상을 분석한 결과, 텔레비전 드라마의 발전과정 속에서 화면의 크기 변화는 미미하였으나, 카메라워크의 변화는 대단히 크게 나타났다. 줌과 틸트의 사용은 시대의 흐름에 따라 현저히 감소하였으며, 달리와 트래킹의 사용은 급격히 증가하였다. 그리고 TV드라마의 도약기에 접어들면서 샷의 평균지속시간은 크게 줄어드는 현상을 보여주었다. 텔레비전 드라마 발전과정에 따른 카메라워크의 변화는 80년대 중반까지 보급된 스튜디오 페데스탈과 크레인의 적극적인 사용에 따라 나타난 것이며, TV드라마의 도약기에 접어들면서 나타난 샷의 평균 지속시간의 감소는 TV 드라마의 전환기를 거치면서 상업방송이 탄생하고 위성방송, 케이블 방송 등의 탄생으로, 이른바 다매체, 다채널 방송시대를 맞아 채널간, 매채간 시청률 경쟁이 심화되어 나타난 현상으로 볼 수 있을 것이다. With the question, "What would be the difference between TV drama image production techniques under the changing circumstances of domestic broadcasting faced with multi-media, multi-channel age after 1980' s press unification and establishment of two times commercial TV stations?" This study analysed image production techniques of three periods of TV drama development, 'TV drama maturity period(1981-1990)', 'TV drama transition period(1991-2000)', 'TV drama take-off period(2001-)'. For the image analysis within the genre of home drama, 3 dramas for each period were selected and analysed cameraworks, shot size, shot duration with the broadcasting station's DVD, homepage and manuscript. The result of this analysis revealed that the change of shot size was slight but the change of cameraworks was great, the usage of zoom and tilt diminished but the usage of dolly and track increased. and the average shot duration drastically diminished during the take-off period. These results show us that broadcasting production equipments developed during the periods, and broadcasting stations poured all-out efforts for the higher viewing rates and international competitiveness.
