Abstract

1. 1. The turnover of heme-a in the liver of Rana catesbeiana tadpole was studied in relation to that of cytochrome- c oxidase. 2. 2. Heme-a was synthesized at a higher rate in the liver of tadpole at metamorphic climax than in that at premetamorphic stage, whereas it was degraded at a slower rate at metamorphic climax. 3. 3. The half-life of heme-a was 13.6 hr at premetamorphic stage and 19.8 hr at metamorphic climax.
