Abstract
The 10 October bombings in Ankara have fuelled a growing sense of desperation among President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's critics and opponents. Many believe that Erdogan has been using the conflict with the Kurdistan Workers' Party to preserve his grip on power. That will be tested in the 1 November general election.
