Abstract
O artigo trata dos efeitos de políticas de crescimento econômico via expansão turística, em especial os conflitos entre empreendimentos turísticos e direitos das populações tradicionais que habitam a costa Oeste do litoral cearense. Os fatos e resultados apresentados proveem de pesquisas realizadas nessa região que enfatizam o caráter excludente do modelo vigente.
