Abstract

Time mean properties and the conditional average of longitudinal velocity have been obtained in a plane turbulent wall jet disturbed by a circular cylinder. For detecting the coherent structure, the VITA technique is utilized in the inner region of wall jet. It is inferred from the time mean properties that the flow field of present wall jet is affected due by the difference of location of the inserted cylinder. In particular, both scales of the velocity and length show a large variation when the cylinder is set at yc/d=1.6. The peak ratio Rp in the ensemble averaged pattern is significantly different for all conditions of the location of the inserted cylinder. The normalized averaged pattern frequency is smaller for the disturbed wall jet than that of nondisturbed flow.
