Abstract

A field experiment was carried out in a river bend and velocity components were measured in the longitudinal, lateral and vertical directions at various cross sections within the bend; the bed topography was determined. Isovels, equal contours of the lateral mean velocity, of the Reynolds shear stress and normal stresses were obtained. No meandering of these parameters occurred within the bend and mean velocity profiles were not logarithmic.
