Abstract

This chapter examines turbulent properties of twin circular free jets with various nozzle spacing. The turbulent flow-field of three-dimensional turbulent jets issuing from two circular nozzles is investigated experimentally. This chapter supplies a series of turbulent data of twin circular jets for the cases of three different nozzle spacing in the region where the interference between two circular jets exists. Turbulence quantities which include the turbulence intensity and the Reynolds shear stress are measured using an X-type hot wire probe operated by the linearized constant temperature anemometers (DANTEC). The exit plane Reynolds number based on nozzle exit velocity and nozzle diameter is kept constant at 25000 throughout this experiment. Also, the development of the turbulence intensity in the inner region between two circular jets is suppressed by the interference of each circular jet.
