Abstract
The paper concerns the numerical simulation of turbulent flow over axisymmetric body with an annular cavity. The influence of the ratio of the length to the cavity depth on the flow structure in the cavity was numerically studied in the case of supersonic flow. The open or closed type of the flow was obtained depending on the ratio of the length to the cavity depth. Comparison with experimental data [9, 10, 13] shows a good agreement between calculated and experimental results. The phenomenon of gas dynamic hysteresis for the implementation of the open - closed flow type studied experimentally in [10] was numerically reproduced. Also it has been shown that experimental conditions [13] also may cause this type of hysteresis.
