Abstract
In recent years, the financial sector in the world has been engaged in a series of injuries that have tested the survival capacity of some institutions. Some entities are missing following the global crisis as a result of non-adjustment capacity to situations presented. In Colombia the financial sector, unlike the global trend has been coping with the crisis in an exemplary manner and have generated permanent earnings, which reflect management capacity of those responsible for setting the course of these entities. This document is intended to contribute to the process of sector analysis conducted by the Faculty of Business Administration from the University of Rosario, through its Research Group Durability. It has been developed jointly with students from the Specialization and Productivity Improvement at the Faculty of Administration, as a result of the Business Strategy module. The work helps companies to identify areas for improvement that once served to generate increased productivity. This study is consolidating research on turbulence in the Faculty of Business Administration and involves the efforts of graduate students. The paper is structured as follows, first is a description of the sector, presenting some general aspects of the activities, then makes an assessment of the level of turbulence, to make way for the strategic analysis undertaken using the methodology of structural analysis strategic sectors (Restrepo and Rivera, 2008). There is an explanation of each of the phases of the methodology because it has been presented in previous documents can be consulted by the reader, or refer to the referenced text.
