Abstract

The turbidity was measured in a reduced temperature region, 10 −5 <t<10 −1 , where t=(T−T c /T c and T c is the critical solution temperature, in two samples close to the critical composition. This polymer-solvent system near its critical point exhibits the properties of a near critical binary fluid mixture, and the turbidity can be explained by using an n=1 (Ising) model. The amplitude of the correlation length was determined to be 1.01±0.08 nm, while the amplitude of the turbidity was (2.00±0.01)×10 −4 cm −1 , which are consistent with two-scale-factor universalitly predictions
