Abstract

The inelastic electron tunneling spectroscopy (IETS) experiments have been performed on the oxide layer of a conventional Al(Al2O3)Pb tunnel junctions with Co2+ ions introduced from solution phase into the barrier. In d2V/dI2 vs. V characteristics the broad maximum centered at 7985 cm−1 (0.99eV) is observed. This maximum is interpreted in terms of d-d electronic transitions 4T1(F) → 4T2(F) in a octahedral cobalt(II) ions excited tunneling electrons.
