Abstract
We have measured the energy gap of highly c-axis oriented Bi 2Sr 2Ca 2Cu 3O 10 (2223) polycrystals in the ab-plane direction with a low temperature scanning tunneling microscope. Our best tunneling conductance curve showed that the Δ ab of 2223 should be close to, but not larger than 39 meV. Both 2223 to normal metal, and 2223 to 2223 tunneling show similar energy gap values.
