Abstract

Muskmelon plants were grown in 1971 under perforated plastic tunnels and mulched with black paper or clear polyethylene film. One month of tunnel cover, starting at planting time, resulted in the earliest and greatest total yield. The mulch treatments produced significantly higher yields than conventional planting.
