Abstract

This work focuses on the preparation of CdSe nanostructures as they have attracted more interest in recent years due to their size and morphology dependent properties. CdSe nanoparticles have been prepared through solvothermal method using Cadmium nitrate and sodium biselenite as precursors and ethylenediamine as solvent. The effect of reaction time on the properties of CdSe especially on the morphology and size have been investigated and reported. With increase in the reaction time, the sizes of the particles are found to increase considerably. The XRD pattern also confirms the improvement in the crystallinity of the prepared samples with increase in reaction temperature. The TEM results show the formation of nanorods like structures in the sample prepared at higher temperature for longer hours.
