Abstract

In this paper, a tunable active frequency selective surface (AFSS) absorber with different loaded methods is designed. The top layer is a substrate which holds up the AFSS. The second layer is an AFSS, which is composed of a frequency selective surface (FSS) and some PIN diodes. The third layer is an insulator composed of foam material. Reflectance measurement shows that the reflection characteristic of the AFSS absorber could be effectively controlled by adjusting the dc voltage of the PIN diode. In addition, the reflectivity could be dynamically adjusted by sine wave. When the frequency of the sine wave was 100 KHz, 1 MHz or 5 MHz, the reflectivity of AFSS could be less than 𢀒10 dB at the frequency band of 3.2∼5.6 GHz.
