Abstract
Abstract This paper shows the tuning of a pH control loop, in an actual industrial plant. The classical Ziegler-Nichols closed loop method was successfully used in the tuning procedure. The plant studied was running in manual mode, since its inauguration. The loop is now working in automatic mode since the tuning procedure was ended, with evident savings in energy. The pH control loop is part of the kaolin mineral concentration processing in a kaolin mine, located in the Brazilian rain forest.
