Abstract

The evolution of various intriguing magnetic properties have been investigated as a function of spatial orientation of doped Mn2+ ions in different crystal structures of CdS nanocrystals. Upon varying the synthesis temperature, we have tuned the crystal structure from wurtzite to zinc-blende and subsequently the spatial orientation of Mn2+ ions in the CdS nanocrystals. Our magnetic measurement conveniently establishes a diamagnetic to ferromagnetic switching upon varying the crystal structure from wurtzite to zinc-blende in Mn doped CdS nanocrystals.
