Abstract
We study the effect of different defect layer refractive indices and thicknesses on group velocity and dispersion properties of slow light in one-dimensional photonic crystal. It is found that the increase of the refractive index, number of the defects and defect layer thickness will induce the decrease of group velocity. We take advantage of these variations to introduce a novel technique to tune and control the slowing light in photonic crystals.
