Abstract
A new method for dynamic control of the group delay of a fiber Bragg grating (FBG) is presented. It is based on an acoustic wave applied to the fiber. Tunability is obtained through adjustment of the intensity and/or frequency of the acoustic wave. The experimental results were verified by theoretical simulation. Application as a tunable narrow dispersion compensator for independent coarse wavelength division multiplexing (CWDM) channels is discussed. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
