Abstract

A design of a tunable microwave photonic filter for noise suppression and channel interference mitigation in the front-end stage after the receiving antenna of an UMTS base station is presented. The filter provides a tunable and very high selective performance (5 MHz along the 1935-1977 MHz band) with 14 dB suppression in the stopband using 30 fibre Bragg gratings and a reconfigurable dispersive delay line.
