Abstract

Electromagnetic wave (EM wave) dissipation based on designed interfacial structures is an effective way to modulate EM absorbing properties of a composite. Taking advantage of the microwave absorbing properties of barium hexagonal ferrite (BaM) and polyaniline (PANI) nano-composites, interfacial carbonization structures between BaM and PANI have been facilely induced by a microwave method. The in-situ formation of carbonization interfaces embedded in PANI on the surfaces of BaM particles have played an important role in improving the interfacial polarization and served more EM loss modes, resulting in enhancement in the microwave absorbing properties with broad absorbing frequency range. Such a facile technique provides an easy and controllable way to design multi-component composite microwave absorbers.
