Abstract
For port-wine stains (PWS), argon laser treatment is now generally accepted as the treatment of choice, but hypertrophic scarring remains a serious side-effect.The tunable dye laser ( 577 nm ) has been shown to cause selective vascular destruction in PWS skin. We have treated ninety patients of PWS using a tunable dye laser (577nm, 500μs ec) without any evidence of hypertrophic scarring. This treatment requiered no anesthesia or wound care. It did not requier a special surgicar art. The laser beam was magnified to a 5mm-diameter spot size on the skin.It appeared that tunable dye laser was very useful in the treatment of PWS.
