Abstract
A report is made of the construction of a rhodamine 6G laser pumped transversely by an ultraviolet nitrogen laser. The width of the spectrum of the dye laser was ~0.002 nm, its output power was 2.5 kW, and it was characterized by a good frequency reproducibility. The dye laser was tunable over a range of 35 nm with a maximum at ? = 590 nm for a given dye concentration.
