Abstract

We numerically studied the existence of discrete cavity solitons in a two-dimensional array of coupled optical cavities with Kerr nonlinearity influenced by a local Gaussian defect. Effect of the defect on soliton on/off switching by injecting a writing/erasing external beam is also discussed. The interaction of two adjacent solitons, mediated by a defect is considered and effect of the positive and negative defect on the independency interval is determined. Finally all-optical NOR and NAND logic gates are proposed which are tunable by well-adjusting the defect height.
