Abstract

Background: In the era where the attitude towards breast cancer treatment changed into de-escalation of axillary surgery, it is important to find new predictive factors for lymph nodes status. Many items were studied including tumour size, lymphovascular invasion, histological grade and type of tumour, hormonal receptors, Ki67, etc. However none of them were validated for clinical use. Tumour infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs) have a good correlation with response to chemotherapy. Our objective was to investigate the predictive value of TILs for sentinel lymph nodes status in early breast cancer.
