Abstract

A brief review is made of the present knowledge on the mesonephric duct remnants and their derivatives analyzing the numerous contributions on the subject.With special emphasis on the malignant growths, the incidence, morphological types, histogenesis, staining properties, methods of differentiation, age distribution, therapy, and survival rates are discussed.Three unpublished cases are reported: one, a benign cyst attached to the right labium minus, another, an adenocarcinoma of the cervix, and a third, an adenocarcinoma of the endometrium.The morphological similarity of these tumors with those of mesonephric origin is discussed and their histogenesis from mesonephric duct remnants is acknowledged.
