Abstract

Our study explores the suffering brought on by psychological harassment experienced by victims in their workplace and their coping strategies. A sample of 134 subjects (of which 110 were women), self described as victims, was composited using spontaneous testimonies from an Internet site. Calculations (done testimony by testimony), terms describing the suffering experienced as well as coping strategies were all realized. Descriptions of the work contexts and the types of harassment are present in 44% of the texts. Reactions to the moral harassment are present in 43%, and the effects of the harassment are in 13% of the texts. Coping strategies were used by 71,64% of the subjects. In conclusion, this sample is particularly combative and the fact of discussing these issues in a forum is considered to be a coping strategy in and of itself.
