Abstract

From precise morphological studies of variants from two Moroccan isolates of Verticillium albo-atrum R. and B. (microsclerotial form), two main types of variants were determined. The first was characterized by the loss of sclerogenesis or by a late and weak sclerogenesis. The second was typified by some alterations in morphogenesis and morphology of microsclerotia. The range of morphological variability was delimited by its effects on certain characteristics of isolates such as general appearance and growth of thalli, conidiogenesis and appearance of conidiophores, sclerogenesis, and microsclerotial structure.
