Abstract
A NMR study of F¹⁹ in a synthetic smectite shows whether or not the excess NaF molecules in the batch composition enter between the layers, and whether the site of the exchangeable Na is in the hexagonal holes existing in. the layer structure. We also exclude any hydrogen bond with F¹⁹.
