Abstract

Large single crystals of orthorhombic sulphur have been grown from a CS2 solution. Most of the dislocations form bundles originating at the seed and lie roughly normal to the major growth faces. The remaining parts of the crystal are practically dislocation-free. Most common Burgers vectors are 12[110] and 12[1ovbar|10] which can be easily interpreted from the atomic structure.
