Abstract
Meatoplasty and glanuloplasty (MAGPI) made distal hypospadias surgery routine. Its description by John Duckett in the Urologic Clinics of North America [1] in 1981 ended the debate over the need to repair these lesions by providing a straightforward technique with few complications and good cosmetic results. Thirteen years later, tubularized incised plate (TIP) urethroplasty began a new revolution in hypospadias repair with an uncomplicated procedure that more reliably produced the appearance of a normal penis. Today, TIP urethroplasty may be the most commonly performed operation for distal hypospadias, and reports from centers worldwide confirm its nearly universal applicability and low complication rate for correction of this genital anomaly.
