Abstract

Pre transplant evaluation of a patient provides unique opportunity to diagnose certain diseases. Tuberculosis is endemic in India and patients are often diagnosed to have tuberculosis during their pre transplant evaluation. As these patients have advanced liver disease diagnosis, treatment planning for anti-tuberculosis therapy and timing the transplant is based on individual choice. There are no established guidelines from either the west or from India. We here report 5 cases of tuberculosis diagnosed as a part of pre transplant evaluation and have summarized available knowledge on managing such patients in peritransplant period.
