Abstract
Background The rate of tuberculosis and other crowding diseases is increasing in vulnerable populations worldwide. Limited resources, shared environments, and densely populated areas are factors in the spreading of disease. Method Via case study analysis, the author explores how the presence of tuberculosis-positive patients is handled in the emergency room and their journey to the operating room. Results A solutions-oriented approach is suggested along with a discussion of the value and importance of adequate personal protective equipment and the consideration of using an augmented technology to aid in the prevention of environmental contamination.
