Abstract

The details of 902 tubal sterilizations performed without mortality in an 18½ year period on a predominantly private teaching service are presented. The Pomeroy operation was used in 97.2 per cent of the instances. The procedures were primarily puerperal. The failure rate was 0.55 per cent. Particular consideration is given to the indications for tubal sterilization.
