Abstract

Zenker diverticulum is an acquired anatomical anomaly which is usually observed in old ages. It can cause aspiration pneumonia and many other serious complications. Lately minimally invasive techniques such as endoscopic septomyotomy have been used in the treatment along with surgery. But endoscopic treatments do not have a standardized approach. In classic endoscopic treatments, symptoms may recur due to insufficient incision and lethal complications can occur after over-incisionof septum. Since 2010, Per-oral endoscopic myotomi (POEM) technique which has been used in the treatment of achalasia and submucosal endoscopic tumor resection (STER/POET) has been used for subepithelial or larger lesions. They both paved the way for development of new tunneling techniques. In this study we aim to compare two tunneling techniques in the treatment of Zenker divercitulum.
