Abstract
Recently, endoscopic papillary large balloon dilatation (EPLBD, balloon size: 12–20 mm) has been used to treat large bile duct stones. Double-balloon endoscopic retrograde cholangiography (DB-ERC) has been used for patients with choleductolithiasis who have surgically altered upper gastrointestinal tracts, whereas classical endoscopic papillary balloon dilatation (EPBD, balloon size: 8mm) has been used with DB-ERC in the past. We recently introduced EPLBD with DB-ERC in patients with surgically altered anatomy. We evaluated the feasibility, safety, and efficacy of EPLBD compared to EPBD with DB-ERC.
