Abstract

Endoscopic Resection (ER) is widely considered as the treatment of choice in early Barrett's cancer (EBC) limited to the mucosa. A prerequisite for any endoscopic treatment approach with a curative intent is a very low risk of lymph-node (LN) metastasis of the neoplastic lesion. Surgical series have indicated that there may be a relevant risk of LN metastasis in EBC invading at least the mid third of the submucosa (sm2).
